Selling knowledge, books and courses online
Digital products look like the easiest thing to sell online: no stock, no freight, infinite copies. The difficulty moves somewhere else entirely — to whether anyone knows you exist.
Most courses that fail were not bad courses. They were launched to an audience that did not exist yet.
Where courses & digital products usually lose it
Built before anyone was asked
Six months making a course, then discovering the market was three people. Selling it before building it would have cost a fortnight.
Renting an audience you do not own
A marketplace takes a cut, owns the customer relationship, and can change its terms whenever it likes.
No reason to buy from you
Information is free everywhere. People pay for structure, accountability and a specific result — not for content alone.
One-off sales with no repeat
Every month starts from zero unless something turns a buyer into a member.
What we would do about it
- Validate by selling before you build the whole thing
- Your own platform, so you keep the margin and the customer list
- An email list from day one — the only audience you actually own
- Positioning around a specific outcome rather than the volume of content
- A membership or follow-on offer, so revenue is not entirely one-off
Questions people in this industry ask
Should I sell my course on my own site or a marketplace?
A marketplace is worth it for discovery when nobody knows you yet, and costly forever after — it takes a cut and keeps the customer relationship. Your own site keeps the margin and the email list, but you have to bring the audience. Many people sensibly do both: the marketplace to be found, their own platform for everyone who already knows them.
How do I know if people will buy my course?
Sell it before you build it. Put up a page describing the outcome, the format and the price, and take pre-orders or a waitlist. If nobody signs up, you have lost a fortnight instead of six months. This one step separates most courses that work from most that do not.
What do I need to sell digital products in Australia?
A page that sells the outcome, a checkout that handles GST correctly, secure delivery of the file or course access, and a way to collect emails. The technical side is genuinely straightforward now — almost every failed launch fails on audience and positioning rather than on the platform.

Tell us where you are up to and you will get an honest answer from someone who has done this work before — including when the answer is that you do not need us yet.
What working with us actually looks like
A fixed price, written down
A free call, then a proposal with the scope and the number on it. No hourly drip, and no invoice that surprises you.
A person replies, not a sequence
We read every enquiry ourselves. If we are not the right fit we will say so and point you somewhere better.
One project manager throughout
The same person from the first call to launch, so you never re-explain the business to somebody new.
Built to bring in work
Enquiries, bookings and sales are the measure. A site that looks good and produces nothing has not done its job.
